XXV International Conference on Bioencapsulation, Jul 3-6

Christina Bitar was awarded a Student Best Contribution award at the XXV International Conference on Bioencapsulation in La Chapelle-sur-Erdre, France!  Her oral presentation was entitled, "Encapsulation of pancreatic islet cells for type 1 diabetes treatment."  Congratulations!

Congratulations to Stephanie Fernandez, who won a poster prize at the 33rd Annual Meeting of the Canadian Biomaterials Society in Winnipeg!  The title of her poster is, "Engineering a vascularised encapsulation device for the treatment of type 1 diabetes."

The 33rd Annual Meeting of the Canadian Biomaterials Society will be taking place in Winnipeg, MB, from May 24-27!  Raymond Tran will be presenting a talk, while Mariève Boulanger and Stephanie Fernandez will be presenting posters.

The 85th edition of the Congrès de l'Acfas is taking place at McGill University from May 8-12, 2017!  On May 8th, Mariève Boulanger presented her talk, "Ingénierie de matériaux vasculaires biomimétiques combinatoires," during the Organismes vivants session.

The Canadian Biomaterials Society (CBS) Montreal Student Chapter held their Biomaterials Research Day on February 23rd.  Congratulations to Raymond Tran, who won a poster prize for his presentation entitled, "Investigating geometric effects in pancreas development using iPSC-derived pancreatic progenitors"!

2017 MDRC Annual Retreat, Feb 3

Karen Markwick, Raymond Tran and Brenden Moeun presented posters at the Montreal Diabetes Research Center's 11th Annual Retreat.  Brenden won a Best Poster prize for his presentation, "Engineering a 3D-Printed Vascularized Pancreas: Printing Dissolvable Carbohydrate Glass Lattices."  Congratulations!

Karen Markwick won the Best Student Poster prize at ECI's Scale-up and Manufacturing of Cell-based Therapies V conference in San Diego!  Her presentation was entitled, "Development of microchannel emulsification as a novel cell encapsulation technology."

New Student!

The Hoesli Lab extends a warm welcome to our newest Master's student, Christina Bitar!  Christina will work on optimising a microchannel emulsification process for encapsulating pancreatic islet cells.
